August 2016.

This year we are launching an interdisciplinary Summerschool Addiction that will take place from 22 – 26 August 2016 in Utrecht, the Netherlands. The goal of the course is to teach and train master students and PhD students in recent advances in different aspects of addiction, e.g. legal and cultural aspects, prevalence and risk factors, neurobiological mechanisms, relevant animal models, cognitive aspects of addiction, and treatment strategies and challenges in addiction care. Through lectures and workshops by experts from multiple disciplines in addiction research and treatment, this Summerschool will provide young scientists with the knowledge and skills to take a novel approach in addiction research and care.

More information regarding the course is available on the attached poster and through this website

Ibro-Kemali School in Neuroscience 2015

October 3rd, 2015 Posted by Past Events No Comment yet
Pozzuoli, September 28-October 3, 2015

The 2015 IBRO-Kemali School in Neuroscience was held at the Institute of Biomolecular Chemistry (ICB) under the auspices of the Italian National Research Council (CNR). The School mixed long-held conceptual milestones that provided molecular fundaments for (endo)cannabinoid and synaptic plasticity research with the newest, ground-breaking results in this field. Besides capturing the physiological roles of (endo)cannabinoids in metabolism and synapse development and physiology, the School presented key insights in synaptic plasticity and human brain function/disease states, also in view of the widespread recreational abuse as well as the medicinal use of cannabinoid-based preparations.

Significantly, this topical IBRO-Kemali School featured Lectures from renown investigators also outside the (endo)cannabinoid field, in order to promote interdisciplinary interactions in the collegial atmosphere of the School.

Individual hands-on training and tutorial was offered to the Students in using:

  1. ALLEN BRAIN ATLAS resources for the brain Atlas of the gene expression and brain development.
  2. LEICA super resolution STORM microscopy applied on advanced imaging of cell and brain.
  3. Training in Laboratory’s activity by exploiting the instrumental equipment of the headquarters of the School at the Institute of Biomolecular Chemistry of the Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche.

The MNS sponsored two Travel Grants for Young Researchers and the Best Brain Project Award. The MNS Vice-President Liana Fattore (Italy) introduced the Society to the audience on the Opening Ceremony, and together with Prof. Mohamed Najimi (Morocco), member of the MNS Nominating Committee, gave a Lecture to the Students on the following days.
